Schematic for the two 23-hours studies whole room indirect calorimeters (WRIC’s).

Bi-level pass through's with blood sampling ports for each of the 23-hour studies WRIC’s.

Another view of the 23-hour studies WRIC interior.

View to outside from within each 23-hour studies WRIC. Each WRIC was designed to allow a view to the outside in order to increase subject comfort and reduce anxiety.

Control room containing two Sable Systems Promethion instruments. These instruments measure oxygen, carbon dioxide, water vapor pressure and barometric pressure thus eliminating the need to dry the sample gases. Notice the small foot print thus allowing use in limited lab space.

Subject study/work desk within the 23-hour studies WRIC.

Air supply buffer space behind both 23-hour studies WRIC’s. Fresh air is brought in by the labs HVAC system and the temperature is maintained at 18 C.

One pass through for each 23-hour studies WRIC. These also contain blood sampling ports mounted on the doors.

Interior of one of the two 23-hour studies WRIC. They both have interior volumes of 21,933 liters each, allowing for a comfortable environment during metabolic and macro-nutrient measurements. This shows both the sofa bed and restroom facilities. Notice the view to the outside.
